01 Bleeding
The design of the pictures, graphics, text and other elements need to be more than 3mm away from the net size of the position, do not rely on the net size of the side 0~1.5mm, the purpose is to leave the graphic image, text to be cut, that is, the so-called bleeding.
02 Color Mode
Whichever design software you use, use CMYK color mode, not RGB. The color expression pattern and expression range of the post material may not be consistent with what is seen on the computer, in general, the color range of ordinary paper printing is much smaller than the color range displayed by the designer computer, especially the Apple computer.
03 Image accuracy
Before scaling the original picture size, please ensure that the image is above 300dpi to ensure the printing accuracy. In addition, if there is overprint of graphics/text /LOGO after bending, you can check whether there is an anomaly through view-Overprint preview. Under normal circumstances, some logos and text will be overprinted, and the device will not warn that major errors will occur when printing.
04 Text
Pay attention to copyright issues, if it involves commercial use, be sure to pay attention to whether all the words used are copyrighted; Not every font you use is available in the post printing factory, and not every font you use is printable (the font is divided into display fonts and printing fonts). Therefore, when giving documents to the printer, if it is determined that there will be no text modification, you can bend all the text (including compound fonts), which can avoid problems with various fonts.
In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the color of the text, if there is no special requirements, black words please use monochrome black, if it is four colors, due to the error of the machine, there is an overprinting problem: if it is anti-white, because the background color is difficult to ensure that it is monochrome, so there is still a registration problem, so the font of anti-white characters, as far as possible not too small.
05 Printing material color
The color expression range of different materials is completely different, the inkjet can be very bright, but the color range of ordinary printing is relatively small, if it is not coated paper such as coated paper, the color performance range will be smaller (such as book paper and newsprint), if you encounter this situation, in the early stage of the design of the color control in a certain range, than let the post-processing is more controllable.
06 Ink volume control
The amount of ink control (dark pictures and black color block printing too deep level is difficult to express, the total amount of ink (CMYK color value sum)>360 is difficult to show, and bring ink difficult to dry, easy to stick flowers and other problems. It should be controlled below 360 (or below 340, see the later printing factory standard), if it is beyond, you can adjust the color block (AI/IN) or picture (PS) color value in advance.
07 File PDF output
Output printing standard PDF, if not clear, in the option to save PDF, select "print quality", or directly select a standard "PDF/X-1a" or "PDF/X-4", you can ensure the printing standard at the same time, as far as possible to compress the file, improve file transfer efficiency.
08 Application of special processes
Laminating/stamping /UV/ embossed and other processes, it is best to combine the feasibility and difficulty of the work and the printer of post-production in advance, do not think that the design is very good, but later found that it can not be achieved, or there is no way to mass production (can be done and can be mass-produced are two different things).
Combine teaching and research to promote teaching
Some people say that the printing of "money" before the press, the facts have proved that this is not false. Prepress work requires a great deal of care, and a careless mistake can destroy all the previous work, resulting in huge waste, and this waste is often shocking.
When checking and accepting customer information, be sure to check whether the diagram is complete and remember customer requirements clearly. Special attention should be paid to checking whether the accuracy of the customer‘s electronic document meets the printing requirements, whether the color picture original image is clear, and whether the handwriting of the text manuscript is clear. To register one by one, so as not to bring unnecessary trouble to the production, and will affect the printing quality and business disputes after the event.
Prepress design prone to problems:
Forgetting to add bleeding lines often occurs; When black is added, four-color black is often used, so that the black print will double the small character; When spelling a large plate, the plate center is too large, it is easy to ignore the corner line to bring inconvenience to the printing, forget the mode conversion (RGB to CMYK), the image accuracy is not enough, and the garbled code appears. Although this is a beginner‘s mistake, it should also be noted for experienced designers.
