What is gelatinization and gelatinization temperature?
    Gelatinization definition: starch and water after co-heating, under certain conditions into translucent colloidal phenomenon. After starch is heated, within a certain temperature range, the starch grain begins to destroy, the crystal structure disappears, the volume expands, the viscosity rises sharply, and becomes a thick paste, that is, becomes non-crystalline starch.
    The temperature at which starch is gelatinized is called gelatinization temperature. The gelatinization temperature of starch varies with the variety of raw materials and the size of starch grains.

    Many factories do not pay enough attention to gelatinization temperature when making glue. The gelatinization temperature does not change with the same formula throughout the year.
    For example, a factory gelatinization temperature is 58 degrees in summer, in winter gelatinization temperature is still 58 degrees, summer production is still OK, but in winter there are problems, the speed is not fast, cardboard baking time increases, cardboard moisture loss, resulting in cardboard line explosion, but the speed is fast cardboard degumming, it shows that the gelatinization temperature is too high

    Since the reason for winter degumming is the gelatinization temperature problem, then, to understand the gelatinization temperature index is the top priority!
    In winter, the gelatinization temperature must be low, because the temperature of the equipment and paper is volatile in winter, and the temperature of the paper will decrease. Therefore, when making the paste, the gelatinization temperature should be low. It is generally recommended that the gelatinization temperature be 54-56 degrees, which is conducive to the adhesion of the paste. So as to avoid the reduction of speed and cardboard bonding degumming production.
    In summer, the gelatinization temperature can be a little higher, such as 58-60 degrees, because the temperature loss of the equipment is less in summer, and then the temperature of the paper is faster, so the gelatinization temperature should not be too low in summer, otherwise there will be false adhesion. That means the paste is gelatinized ahead of time.

Detection of gelatinization temperature
    To detect the gelatinization temperature, the sample can be loaded into the test tube, the sample is placed in half of the test tube, the test tube into the hot water bath above 77 degrees Celsius, stir with a thermometer, when the sample is too thick to stir, the temperature stops rising, record the temperature, is the gelatinization temperature of the adhesive.
